Frequently asked questions

What is Bill & Rent Reporting?

Bill & Rent Reporting turns your everyday rent and bill payments into credit history by reporting them to TransUnion. Instead of taking on new debt to build credit, you get credit for payments you're already making—like rent, utilities, and phone bills. Rent reporting is free, including up to 24 months of past payments.

How does bill and rent reporting work?

When you enroll, we use your connected bank account to identify eligible rent and bill payments. You choose which payments to report. We then send your on-time payment history to TransUnion, where it appears on your credit report as payment history. Payments are typically reported within days of enrollment.

Is rent reporting really free?

Yes. Rent reporting is free for Possible customers, including up to 24 months of past rent payments subject to payment verification. There's no monthly fee, no signup cost, and no charge to include up to 24 months of past payments. To add utility and phone bill reporting, you can upgrade to the paid plan for $7/month.

Sometimes I pay late. Will this affect my credit score negatively?

No. We only report on-time payments to TransUnion, never missed or late payments. This means reporting bill and rent can only help build your payment history, not hurt it. If you miss a payment, we simply don't report it. Closing the account may result in a temporary decrease.

Can I report past payments?

Yes. When you enroll in rent reporting, we automatically include up to 24 months of past on-time rent payments at no extra charge. If you upgrade to bill reporting for $7/month, we'll also report up to 24 months of past utility and phone bill payments.

How long does it take to see results?

Your payments are typically reported to TransUnion within days of enrollment. However, credit bureaus may take 30-45 days to reflect the account on your report. Every individual has a different credit profile, so results are unique.

What types of bills can I report?

You can report rent from one primary residence, utilities (gas, electric, water), or telecom service (phone or internet). Rent reporting is free. Utility and telecom reporting requires the paid plan at $7/month. All reported payments must be verifiable through your connected bank account, subject to payment verification.

Do I need good credit to sign up?

No. Bill and rent reporting works for any credit profile, including people with no credit history or those rebuilding credit. The benefit is designed to help you build payment history regardless of your current credit score. You just need eligible rent or bill payments to report.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. You can cancel bill and rent reporting anytime with no penalty or cancellation fee. If you're on the paid plan, you won't be charged again after cancellation. Your previously reported payments will remain on your TransUnion credit report even after you cancel.

Will it hurt my credit?

Enrolling in bill and rent reporting can help build your payment history, not hurt it. We only report positive, on-time payments. Missed or late payments are never reported to credit bureaus. This type reporting means there's no risk to your credit score, other than if you ever close the account. Closed accounts result in a temporary dip, not a permanent one. As for how much it’ll help, credit scores depend on many factors and results may vary for each individual.
