We got hit here by Hurricane Helene. I needed a little extra time to pay and to try to get things together. It was a very stressful time. I’m one of the many Americans who don’t really have that much of a safety net. But the Relief Plan really helped.

Frequently asked questions

How does the Relief Plan work?

The Relief Plan provides a 30-day payment deferral for your Possible Loan in addition to the standard 29-day grace period, for up to 59 days of total relief on outstanding payments. During this period, qualifying customers can delay payments without new late reports related to the covered hardship.

How do you qualify for the Relief Plan?

To qualify, you must have an active Possible Loan and experience an eligible hardship event, such as a death in your immediate family, serious illness or disability, a qualifying natural disaster, critical medical expenses (including abortion care), a mass casualty incident, or certain home emergencies including domestic violence or fire. Charged-off loans are not eligible.

Wait, what does forbearance mean?

Forbearance means temporarily delaying or adjusting required payments on a loan. It is not loan forgiveness; you still owe the outstanding balance. Under the Relief Plan, Possible offers forbearance by postponing certain actions—such as adding additional late payments to your credit report—when you qualify due to one of the specified hardship events.

I already got more time to pay. Am I eligible?

Eligibility depends on your current loan status and where you are in your repayment schedule. Some customers may still qualify for a hardship extension under the Relief Plan even if they have previously rescheduled payments. Contact Possible through the app to review your situation.

What happens to my credit score?

While you’re enrolled in the Relief Plan, qualifying payments on your Possible Loan generally will not be newly reported as late during the covered period. However, any late payments that were already reported to credit bureaus before enrollment cannot be removed or changed. Enrolling promptly after a qualifying event may help limit additional negative reporting.

What kinds of medical care qualify?

The Relief Plan covers certain events where you incur expenses related to critical medical care. This includes a range of serious health-related treatments and can include abortion-related care, subject to the Plan’s eligibility criteria.

Will I get reminders when my payments are due?

Yes. You’ll receive reminders when payments are approaching, including an email about three days before your next payment date, as long as your contact information and notification preferences are up to date.

How do I get started?

Log in to the Possible app and contact support to request enrollment in the Relief Plan. A representative will review your situation and determine eligibility based on the Plan’s qualifying events and your loan status.
