From Setback to Comeback: Tina’s Story
When an unexpected emergency, like a broken water heater, drains your savings and causes a loan to fall behind and charge off, rebuilding financial stability means taking responsibility and paying off your debt. Tina's story shows that resolving past-due accounts not only clears your record and reflects positively on your credit score but also restores your peace of mind and opens the door to future borrowing options.
Transcript
So I fell behind on my payments. I was doing good at first, and then I got behind. We had some things going on at home, hot water tank broke, you know, when you don't have enough or when you don't have any money in the savings, you don't have a cushion you know to fall back on for emergencies, and it took our disposable income. So, I had no money and I couldn't make my payments and I fell behind and it got charged off. To be financially responsible, you have to pay your debt. And I'm trying to rebuild my credit, not trash it. The biggest benefit to paying off my loan is knowing that it's a debt that's paid off. You know, that reflects on my credit. I don't owe money. And also the possibility of taking out another loan if I need one in the future.
